Zia is a dedicated hair stylist in Minneapolis, Minnesota, specializing in color, color correction, keratin treatments, and textured hairstyles. Her journey in the beauty industry began in April 2014 when she graduated from Paul Mitchell the School in Nashville, Tennessee, where she stood out in an advanced learning program called Phase Two, earning a Texture Honor. Even while in school, her talent was recognized with two job offers, and shortly after graduating, she had the opportunity to assist a celebrity hair stylist for nearly two years.
Zia's passion for beauty began at a young age in Africa, where she started as a henna artist at just 14. While waiting for U.S. immigration processing in Egypt, she continued to pursue her craft, offering bridal henna services as a side hustle. After moving to America in 2006, she spent eight years working in manufacturing and home care while still creating henna designs for brides. Her love for making people feel beautiful ultimately led her to enroll in cosmetology school.
In 2015, Zia moved to Minnesota and opened her salon in Minneapolis's Karmel Mall. Her mission was to educate clients on proper hair care, especially addressing the common concerns faced by African American women. Having struggled with managing her curly hair since she was 14, Zia understood the challenges of finding the right products and techniques. Her personal journey of trial and error led her to focus on professional hair care, including coloring, trimming, and using high-end products tailored to textured hair.
After years of saving and working with clients who have curly, coarse hair, Zia felt a responsibility to create inclusive hair care products. This drive led to the development of Zia Hair Care. With careful selection of ingredients and collaboration with a manufacturing company, Zia's first samples were created. After refining the formula, the final products were released in April 2022, quickly becoming a favorite among her clients, who eagerly recommended them to friends and family.
Zia Hair Care products are designed to make hair care easier and more enjoyable. The gentle wash sulfate-free moisturizing shampoo, silicone-free conditioner, leave-in conditioner, and serum detangle curls and provide hydration with minimal effort. Zia's treatment products, used once or twice a week, reduce breakage, control frizz, and promote hair growth.
